Are British people in awe when someone from the United States visits their country?

It’s the view from my window. It’s over 1000 years old. Not everyone can boast of such a thing of course, but we can all boast of having been around a long time. So I don’t know why we would be in awe of a failing democracy, with a crooked and inefficient legal system from the Supreme Court all the way down the the police on the streets and their 18 weeks training who act like an army of occupation,a crooked and inefficient electoral system and a main political party who would support and enable a drunken kangaroo for president if it meant they could go on raising taxes for the poor and enriching themselves and their cronies. Add the obesity crisis, the opioid crisis, the housing crisis, the failing infrastructure and the burgeoning number of bankruptcies caused by having the bad luck to fall ill, and the only awe we feel is that you’re still falling for the “America is best” and “America, the land of the free” bullshit.
